The dry season also offers the best chances of wildlife sightings, as animals gather around water sources.

Weather & Climate

Mahale National Park experiences a tropical climate, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F – 86°F) throughout the year. The park receives the most rainfall during the wet season, which runs from November to April. Getting There

Access to Mahale NP is limited due to its remote location. The most common way to reach the park is by flying into the nearby town of Arusha and then taking a connecting flight to Mahale Airstrip. From there, visitors can take a boat transfer to the park, which typically takes around 2-3 hours. You can combine Mahale NP with other Tanzania parks, Gombe, Ruaha, Mikumi, Nyerere, Udzungwa, Katavi, Serengeti, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Manyara, and Zanzibar.

Malaria & Safety

As Mahale NP is located in a malaria-endemic area, it is crucial for visitors to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites. It is recommended to take malaria prophylaxis, wear long-sleeved clothing, and use insect repellent.
